OUT with the BAD – IN with the GOOD

Did you know that we carry memories of experiences in our body and they can manifest as pain or discomfort?

Sometimes these memories aren’t even obvious, like maybe when you were 5 you were told you couldn’t have an ice cream cone and it was devastating to you because you really wanted that double scoop of cookies and cream.

Years later when you revisit the memory and release it, you feel a shift in your body, a part of you that you never realized was tense, because it had been there for so long it felt normal. It’s an incredible feeling that I have experienced first hand. Not only did a part of my lower back relax but I lost my fear of heights, too!

I’ve learned many different methods from many different teachers but the best success I have is through first identifying the issue, acknowledging what it is, releasing the attachment to it, then healing or clearing it.

Now, I am not suggesting you re experience the event, especially if it’s traumatic, though you probably are experiencing some of it on the daily on some smalll level.

What I am suggesting is to treat it like cleaning your house. Imagine you are cleaning your attic.

You IDENTIFY dust and clutter on the floor, you ACKNOWLEDGE this isn’t something that you want or need, you sweep it up and RELEASE it into the trash can, thereby CLEARING the floor and space.

This is how I do this for myself. I feel pain or discomfort in my body, say my neck. I used to think this pain was a normal result from sitting at a computer all day but I’m able to release it pretty easily, which tells me it isn’t normal.

Step 1: I IDENTIFY the source, let’s call it ‘feeling taken advantage of’. Say you loaned your sister a large sum of money last year and not only hasn’t she attempted to pay it back but she hasn’t even mentioned it. This experience is full of resentment.

Step 2: ACKNOWLEDGE this isn’t something that serves you, in fact it hurts you the longer you carry it around with you.

Step 3: RELEASE your attachment to this experience. This part is very important. We all have our stories that we use to justify our feelings, usually this is from a victim perspective, someone hurt us with their actions or words and we carry it with us as some part of our identity. Once we decide this isn’t to our benefit, this doesn’t help us feel empowered, positive and full of love, we can release this burden.

Remember that this is your perspective of the situation and they have theirs. Maybe they aren’t aware of how you are feeling. Maybe they thought it was a gift or a loan that didn’t have definitive terms. Try to soften your perspective and it is easier to release.

Step 4: CLEAR or HEAL the negative energy- There are 2 ways I do this depending on how I’m feeling. 1) CLEAR – I imagine it’s turned to ash and floats away or HEAL – I infuse it with love until it changes into something positive and beneficial. I tend to do more of the second nowadays but both feel great!

Keep in mind, just like cleaning your home, this is an ongoing process. Also, don’t be surprised if you clear something from 3 days ago and it comes up again. This usually indicates that the root issue is still there from before. We tend to repeat patterns from our childhood.

The tension from not getting that promotion from work could be stemming from not getting that ice cream. So keep clearing and healing until you feel better.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried this and what your results were. We all learn from each other!

UNTIL NEXT TIME – LOVE AND BLESSINGS!
