When the sh#! hits the fan!

Recently my family noticed I wasn’t as perky and positive as usual. They said it was weird, as I’m usually bopping around on Cloud 9. Call me Mary Poppins!

Stress and fear had overtaken me about a work situation that expanded like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man until I was overwhelmed and depressed.

It was horrible and the more I fought to raise my vibration, the worse it got. Kind of like quicksand, the more you struggle…

I was trying like hell to hold the door closed on the monster but it was exhausting.

So I did the scary thing. I opened the door and examined the monster, up close and personal.

“What’s the worst that can happen?” Sounds like the sort of thing you DON’T say when you’re following the Law of Attraction, right?

Well, here’s the thing. There is a difference between saying positive affirmations and really feeling them. Your words might lie but your emotions don’t.

Not to mention, the fear of the unknown is usually exponentially more terrifying than the actual reality. And oftentimes, the fear of something if magnified can actually attract it. Self fulfilling propehcy, yo.

When you address your fear, you take away its power over you. Once released of this weight you can proceed with a calm, or at least calmer mind. And let’s be honest, it probably won’t happen anyway.

Florence Scovel Shinn said, “I walk boldly up to the lion on my pathway and find it is a friendly airedale.”

So I examined my fears. What if I lose my job? Sure, a lot of stuff came up regarding my mortgage, bills and other commitments. But it was like a wave; it crashed into me then receeded.

My higher self overpowered my reasoned mind and said, “That doesn’t exist in the NOW.” and even if it does happen, “Another opportunity will come.”

Now, this next part might not sit well with some people but it’s what worked for me.

I call it, Ignorance is Bliss!

This involves creating a bubble around your awareness and being very intentional about what you let in. That means avoiding any news, social media or conversations that might bring down your energy and/or bring attention to your issue. And consuming positive content, environments, people…don’t consume people, just the content!

For instance, you looked at your bank account and reasoned that there is no way you will make it to your next pay day. There are no smart loans, no believable opportunities to earn or receive money. You have decided that your next paycheck is the only solution and it won’t get here in time.

Where’s Keanu, this sounds like a movie plot!

Well, let’s examine your options. You can either freak out for the next 14 days or you can accept that the current reality is what it is, with no judgement.

It’s just a fact. I have $(fill in the blank) in the bank. Don’t assign it good or bad.

But how do you restrain the fear that wells up and threatens to take you over?

Accept that there is nothing you can do in this moment. You’ll cross that bridge when you get there.

Then you work on your energy. I find that recounting the times it did work out is extremely helpful, if not necessary.

I lost my job before and there was some struggle, uncomfortable conversations were had with the credit card companies and some things had to be placed on hold to focus on the important things like rent, food and gas. I became a skilled juggler!

I told myself things would get better, they had to! Everything is always working out for my good, even if I don’t see it at the time.

I was hired by a family member for a temp position. Sure it was an hour away and the pay was low but I was GRATEFUL and used that hour drive each way to listen to positive YouTube videos. I also played the ‘wouldn’t it be nice?” game.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if I worked from home?” Which led to imagining what the setup would be. Where? In the kitchen or in a corner in my bedroom? What type of company would it be?

Two weeks after starting this temp job I received a call from a friend and former colleague. He referred me for a remote work from home position. Booya!

Now, you probably think the cool part was manifesting the work from home opportunity but that was only part of it!

You see, this job provided salary pay at an amount that allowed me and my mother to qualify for a home loan. In 9 months from the start date, we moved into a 3 bd house!

That wouldn’t have been possible, or at least not so soon with the job I had lost because I was considered an independent contractor.

You see? Everything works out for us! The key is to keep your FAITH. You have to lose or leave a job in order to accept a better one, right? There are only 24 hours in a day!

As far as the bank account. I can tell you that whenever I’m unaware of the constant state I usually have nothing to worry about.
There is always enough money or at worst, a slight fee once I’m back on track.

Now I’m not suggesting you be reckless, I’m suggesting that you need to give yourself a break. If you know that your money is coming on a certain date then it does no good to constantly remind yourself about it and freak out. Take 30 minutes or more for a feel good break!

Go for a walk, dance around your room, play the ‘wouldn’t it be nice?’ game, cheer someone up who has it harder than you, meditate, send love to your family, friends and your community, look at pics of kittens or puppies or puppies and kittens!

If you raise your vibration to a happier state and things fall apart anyways, at least you will be better capable of resolving. But best case scenario is the thing you thought was bad was actually making way for something better and maybe it doesn’t feel good now but a few weeks out you will look back at it through the lens of APPRECIATION.

I’ve got some tips for helping you get through.

  1. Express GRATITUDE for what you do have! There is plenty, I’ll share some of mine: Oxygen (VERY IMPORTANT!), trees, birds, the sun, water, having a roof over my head, clothes, food, family, friends, etc… The longer your list, the longer you stay in a high vibe state!
  2. Journal or write a letter to yourself as though writing from the future. “Dear Me, remember that terrible thing that happened and we thought our world would end? Guess what? It worked out and we are doing amazing and here’s how…”
  3. Listen to music, watch videos or read books that inspire you! Which leads to…
  4. Avoid any media or conversations that are negative. If it isn’t bringing you up, turn it off or walk away!
  5. Remind yourself every day that you are an infinite spirit, here on Earth for a limited time in a temporary body. You came here to experience humanity, not to suffer. Let your light shine and INSPIRE others!

Let me know if any of this resonated, you think I’m crazy or want to share your tips. Happy to hear from you!

As always, Love and Blessings!
